Using Data for Teaching and Learning

For information about how ICPSR datasets can be used by faculty and students for teaching and learning purposes, see Teaching and Learning Overview.

Topics that may be of particular interest to UMGC students and faculty include:

  • the ICPSR research paper competition, an annual event open to undergraduate and graduate students and recent graduates. The competition seeks to highlight exemplary student research papers based on quantitative analysis of ICPSR data.
  • the ICPSR summer program, held yearly to provide information about statistics and data analysis in the context of social science research. UMGC students, faculty, and staff are eligible for discounted tuition.
  • data-driven learning guides that introduce (or reinforce) key concepts in the social sciences by guiding students through a series of questions and related data analyses
