Format for books

Elements:

  1. Author.
  2. Title of Book.
  3. Contributor,
  4. Version,
  5. Publisher,
  6. Publication Date.

Format:

Author. Title of Book. Contributor, Version, Publisher, date.

Note: If the publisher's name includes "University" or "Press," abbreviate those, without periods, for example:

  • Princeton UP, 2014.
  • U of Pittsburgh P, 1994.

Note on publisher element:

  • MLA citation style no longer includes the publisher's city, only the publisher's name. 
  • If the publisher's name includes "University" or "Press," abbreviate those, without periods, for example:

"1" is the volume number and 112-14 are the page numbers in that volume.
