I logged in with my email and password, and it didn't work. What can I do?

First, make sure that you used your entire UMGC email (example: john.doe1@umgc.edu) for the username with your UMGC password. If this does not resolve the issue, please try the following:

  1. Uninstall the Everway software.
  2. If you are installing the browser extension, clear your browser history, cookies, and cache.
  3. Restart your computer or browser.
  4. Re-download the Everway software and follow any installation guides.
  5. When prompted, choose "Sign in with Microsoft" and log in with your full UMGC email and password.

If this does not resolve the issue, please take a screenshot of the error message and send it to Accessibility Services at accessibilityservices@umgc.edu with a request for additional assistance.

How do I use Everway in the D2L/LEO classroom?

We recommend using the browser extension version of Read&Write to navigate and interact with content in your D2L classroom. The Read&Write browser extension is available for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge and can be found on the Everway download page at the following link:

Read&Write won’t read my PDF? Now what?

If Read&Write does not recognize any text on your PDF, we recommend two options:

  1. Read&Write Desktop: The Scan tool will scan and convert your document into a readable format with the text-to-speech reader.
  2. OrbitNote: OrbitNote will automatically detect and offer to scan PDF documents if needed. OrbitNote can be accessed at the following website: orbitnote.texthelp.com

The text-to-speech voice is too fast or too slow. How can I adjust this?

Everyway is highly customizable to suit a variety of user preferences. To change any of the voice settings:

  1. Navigate to the software Settings menu through either the three-dot or three-line menu icon.
  2. Choose "Speech" from the side menu options.

In the Speech settings, you can set a number of Speech preferences including the voice itself, the speed of the voice, and in some cases, the pitch of the voice.
