Recommended Databases for Writing

The database you choose for researching your writing assignments will depend on the specific subject area you want to write about. OneSearch is a good place to start research for many different topics.

Academic Search Ultimate
Arts, humanities, science, social sciences, business, and technology journals, ebooks, and other resources from 1887 - present.
MasterFILE Premier
Full-text articles, reference book entries, primary source documents, and more, in a variety of subject areas, from 1975 - present.
OmniFile Full Text Mega
Multi-disciplinary resource that covers several core subjects, including art, education, ethnic studies, history, humanities, law, social sciences, technology, and women's studies.
JSTOR
Articles and books from many subject areas (anthropology, art, business, education, history, literature, science, etc.) from the 1900s - present.
Humanities Source Ultimate
Subjects include archaeology, the arts, communications, gender studies, history, journalism, literature, philosophy, and religion.
Nexis Uni (formerly LexisNexis Academic)
International, national, and local news articles, as well as legal information (federal and state cases, statutes, regulations, etc.) and company information. News & Newspapers (ProQuest)
News from multiple sources, including the Baltimore Sun, Christian Science Monitor, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post. Coverage dates vary by title. Includes older articles from the Baltimore Afro-American.
