ITEC 610: Information Technology Foundations

A Library Subject Guide

Assigment Tips

Searching for scholarly articles in the Library databases

  • Start with subject specific databases
Directly search databases related to project management by using the ones listed at https://libguides.umgc.edu/c.php?g=630662&p=4405985
  • OneSearch can be used, but
Onesearch is a useful general database that doesn't search all of our resources. It's best for general research.
  • Search for topics individually and use quotation marks
Make sure you are using quotation marks to weed out unrelated results. You may have better luck separating search terms in stead of using quotation marks around the whole phrase. For a topic such as "Health IT", you might want to try separating the terms and spelling them out.

So the example for the search would be:

(health OR "health care" OR healthcare) and (IT OR "information technology")

Some relevant topics for ITEC Projects include, but are NOT limited to:

  • "Internet of Things"
  • "Health Information Technology"
  • "Mobile computing"
  • "Social Media"
  • "Information Technology Project Management"
  • "Systems Analysis"
  • "Information Security"
  • "Computer architecture"

However, please check with your professor for final approval of research topics.
