Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Introduction

At University of Maryland Global Campus, we seek to reflect the diversity of the global community. Cultural differences are recognized, valued, and considered essential to the education process and working environment. We promote understanding and mutual respect of all members of the community and provide an academic and social environment that encourages new ideas, an eagerness to learn, and positive working conditions.

As part of our work to promote understanding and respect, University of Maryland Global Campus’s Office of Diversity and Equity and the UMGC Library are working together to create and house reading lists on diversity, equity, and inclusion, and lists dedicated to heritage months. We hope to help you reap the benefits of regular reading and connect with your family, friends, and colleagues over a good book while expanding your understanding and helping you to engage with new ideas that will grow and strengthen our community.

Building on UMGC’s commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and healthy community, we hope that these reading lists will help you gain a better understanding and appreciation of other cultures and spark conversations that address the challenges of living and working in a diverse community.
